What is your alchemy today?

It's early morning, but I choose to put red lipstick on to honor writing. I'm finishing my cup of coffee, the one I try to perfect as an experience everyday, a meditative experience before the actual meditation. Today, however, writing is this meditation.

I hesitated to buy Alchemy, the new oracle from Kim Krans, the creator of The Wild Unknown Tarot deck and the oracles Animal Spirit and Archetypes. You may not be familiar with her work, but she is a magical artist and writer. When she made the Wild Unknown, in 2012, she opened doors for many other artsy tarot decks and for tarot enthusiasts to surface worldwide. Magically.

On the occasion of the Archetypes, I met her at a talk in New York, 2019. Her autograph says "Francesca with light Kim Krans," and I think we talked about pão de queijo (cheese bread) or something as important.

The Alchemy oracle came a month ago or so. I immediately wanted it because of her work, but alchemy is quite abstract to me; I couldn't relate enough, so I let it go. Yesterday though, just like when I got my first tarot deck 30 years ago, I knew I had to go out and get it; I couldn't order it online and wait for it. I was lucky to find one remaining on the bottom shelf at a local book store; I brought it home. It turns out that Alchemy became the catalyst for starting this newsletter thing.

But Astrology?

This morning I did a one-card reading. My question was, "what's my alchemy for today." 6 a.m. in the New York summer, bright outside, and the fading full moon in Aquarius up in the sky was looking at me whiles I asked the question (hence the photo).

My answer was one of the 22 alchemical materials, card number 25, Argentum/Silver. It has lunar qualities and asks for reflection. Why does this relate to astrology?

While reading the meaning of the card, all I could think about was how astrology consultations are and how they mirror and bring to life a relationship with the truth of the moment, with what needs to come out, to be learned, to be known.

Just like Silver, a birth chart is a mirror. "Whereas Gold sustains its radiance, Silver asks for our participation. We must work at it." An astrology reading asks for participation; the more that is shared, the more accurate it would be. "Through our daily devotion to Silver, we find the truest Gold." I'm not saying astrology requires daily devotion, but why not? The more you open yourself to see this mirror of a birth chart, the closer you are to your inner Gold, your inner treasure, your shiny intentions, and the closer you are to knowing yourself.

Maybe this is also abstract, like alchemy. It's what I felt like sharing in my first update. May we all make good use of everything presented to us.

Have a good day,
